A true aussie sunday

Today we had a real Aussie Sunday: cricket and a bbq.
There was a Shane Warne Foundation (super famous pro cricket player down here) celebrity cricket match today down at the MCG (Melbourne Cricket Ground), for just a gold coin donation. So, for $1 each, marcy and i figured why not?!? We actually had great seats and had fun despite the fact neither of us are 100% on the rules and technicalities of the game, and it's a bit boring. But we did see Shane Warne in person and from a fairly close distance! He's kinda like the Wayne Gretzky of the Aussie cricket world. It was what they call an Twenty20 match so it was "more entertaining/exciting and fast" than a typical game. Perfect for us. Then we came home and had ourselves a little bbq of hot dogs and kebabs. yummm yummm. Perfect thing to do on a 38 degree day.
Hope everyone had a lovely valentines day. Marcy and i had our typical wednesday night date at the night market, but this time we splurged and got honey dumplings with chocolate sauce for dessert, since it was valentines day. I also got the neatest chocolates. they're "sausages" and they look just like them: wrapped in paper, twisted at the end and tied with string. you cut them in slices and it's slightly chewy chocolate with almonds and marshmallows in it. and the other one i got is latte flavoured. so good! but not quite as nice as receiving them from dad.
I wish I could say more of what I've been up to, but fact is I can't seem to remember much else, so it goes to show how exciting we've been lately! we don't plan on sticking around here for too much longer, so we have a lot more to squeeze in: phillips island and the lil' penguins, ocean road, the museum, and jim's greek tavern! we're still plugging away at the call centre (although we both seriously lack the skills to do well at it... kind of embarrassing if we could bring our selves to care). we actually had "food poisioning" last friday and relaxed by the pool.
aaaaaaaaaaand that's all the "excitement" i can think of for now.
oh! please excuse the lack of getting the rest of the pictures up on photobucket. a couple of computers were out of order here for a while, which made them hard to get on, but i will get the rest up as quickly as i can. and if anyone thinks of it, i'd love to see some pics from home. anything really. especially snow :)
miss you all soooooo much. hope to hear from you soon.

Hello!
Yes, all my pictures are up (actually, i'm still doing it just now)! it's quite the process because the of the size of them, so they take quite a while to upload on these old computers. BUT regardless, they are there! So, I hope you all enjoy. Obviously, not all are there - but it's all the good stuff. And as soon as i find a free evening, i'll title them too, so you know what you're looking at.
Now, trying to remember what i've been up to! Sometimes i feel like i'm writing a novel about my trip and i have to remember to pick up where i left you all last.
Big Day Out was SO much fun. The weather, as in typical Melbourne fashion, completely surprised us and it turned out to be a beautiful, hot, sunny day. Which resulted in me being slightly over dressed and both marcy and i getting quite the tan lines. My farmers tan was something some farmers would have been jealous of. The only downfall to the day was that there were NO atms on the grounds (unlike the show in sydney, which had several) and marcy and i didn't bother to get cash out prior. so we were left with limited funds to get drinks throughout the day. we made the most of it though! We watched Evermore, My Chemical Romance, the Killers and Jet all from further back, but caught Eskimo Joe and John Buttler Trio up close! it was awesome. By 8 or so we moved to the boiler room, where it's more DJs and such and caught this awesome DJ-type band called the Presets. I didn't think i was one for dance music, but this stuff really got you going and you couldn't help but to move. After that was Crystal Method which was pretty good too. We were on the most insanely packed train back to town EVER (more packed than stampede trains!), got some food - since it was 11:30 by then and we hadn't eaten in 12 hours as we were too busy thinking about music, got home and hit the sack! it was a tiring day, but wellllllll worth it! It was the perfect end to a very very fun long weekend.
I also wanted to say THANK YOU!!!! so much for all the birthday wishes. I felt very special and it was so nice to hear from everyone. In case I haven't already gotten around to my thanks and what i did, it's rather anti-climatic. I was quite sick. So it was another day of work but i did have a hot date for dinner! Marcy and I treated ourselves to an overpriced meal and yummy drink at Hard Rock Cafe. She got fijitas and white wine, and i got a bacon cheeseburger and a drink called Toblerone (which IS as yummy as it sounds). And home to bed for me. I just think that we celebrated the weekend before! I actually had to take the next day off from work and go to the doctor. Turns out I had a severe cold and a mild sinus infection. Dr. Oliver Wu was really nice (and cheap!) and explained the whole sinus infection, why what happens when it does, with a diagram and everything. It was the most educational doctors visit i've ever had. After a week of prescribed antibiotics and 2 hot showers a day, i'm feeing like a new person.
This past weekend was the first nice weather we've had in ages! I know you're not going to believe me, but it's been cold here (relatively speaking, of course). We can't even really stand outside on our lunch break in just a t-shirt. But they say Melbourne gets 4 seasons in one day. Mostly we've experienced one extreme or another! But this weekend it finally it the 30 mark again and for 2 days we enjoyed seeing the sun. We went on the train out to Edithvale beach, 40 min outside the city. It was beautiful! It had the softest sand, turquoise water and really cute, brightly painted beach houses. Sunday we hit the Fitzroy public pool, which is a short walk away, since it was so hot you just wanted to be in and out of the water as often as possible. Don't worry! we're avoiding skin cancer and burns and always reapplying the 30+.
And it's been back to the grind... toughing out another week of our super-great job. hahaha. We always try to lift our spirits after work, whether it's just a yummy coffee on the way home, or like last night we went to a neat retro theatre for cheap night and saw Babel. Soooooo good! I highly recommend it! And it's night market tonight!
hope all is well on the other side of the world. I miss you all lots and lots.
Hope to get the rest of the pics up now!
